Jim Duhart – UHL – Danbury Trashers ’04 – ‘05

Jim Duhart – UHL – Danbury Trashers ’04 – ‘05

DSCF0004Duhart was a prolific hockey player who led the United Hockey League in scoring for the ’03-’04 season.    He also led the UHL in number of games played.    He was #2 in the UHL for penalty minutes. In addition, Duhart was one of the colorful characters

DSCF0001That made watching those UHL games so great.   Not really a tough guy, but ever the instigating pest, who would drop the gloves in a pinch.

DSCF0003When my wife yelled “Hey Duhart, you suck!!” from the front row at a Quad City Mallards vs. Danbury Trashers game, he turned to her, slowly smiled, and calmly made an obscene facial gesture.

Truly a player who was loved if he was on your team, or hated if he played for the other guys.   He put the ass in class.

DSCF0002This jersey is an Athletic Knit size XXL from the ’04-’05 inaugural season, and was obtained by a fellow collector who purchased it directly from Duhart.    It is my understanding that Duhart had obtaining his jerseys as a condition of his contract with the Trashers.

Customized in typical Duhart fashion are the sleeves, which have been shortened, with elastic sewn in the hems, to allow the sleeves to stay over the elbows…if needed for an emergency altercation.

This jerseys shows decent game wear to include board burns and scattered stick and puck marks.

Duhart was an Assistant Captain….for a time.   This jersey shows evidence of the “A” patch being quickly and forcibly removed.

Duhart was traded to the Flint Generals 16-games through the season.    This article indicates that the Trashers suspended him:

Duhart was one of the very few hockey players to receive a Grand Jury subpoena about salary cap shenanigans related to the former owners racketeering investigation.

Mr. Duhart is lucky not to be wearing cement shoes! $ 950.00

Frank “The Animal” Bialowas – UHL – Danbury Trashers ’04 – ‘05

Frank “The Animal” Bialowas—UHL—Danbury Trashers ’04-‘05

DSCF0009This guy was something! He had 78-PIMS in 5-games with zero points with the Danbury Trashers. Now you see why he’s known as “The Animal”? If not, this video proves it!

DSCF0010The jersey has plenty of authentic wear including a torn and popped collar, multiple puck and stick marks, several board burns on the right sleeve and heavy pilling on the inside front.

DSCF0006This jersey was obtained from the team’s Equipment Manager following the ’04-’05 season prior to the team folding.

Why did the Danbury Trashers fold, you ask? Please read this passage from Wikipedia:

DSCF0007During their first season, the Danbury Trashers set the UHL record for PIMS. I was in the QC then and was close with some of the front office staff. When the Trashers came to town, they told me that the QC players just wanted to get through these games without injuries from fights with the Trashers’ players. And, QC had some great fighters on their team. Geesh!

Jim Duhart wore this home white knit gamer during the ’03-‘04 UHL season. Duhart spent nine seasons in the UHL (five of those were with the Flint Generals) and was a prolific goal scorer.

In the ’03-’04 season, Duhart scored 56 goals and had 39 assists for a total of 95-points in 76 games. In addition, he had 135-PIMS that year! Gotta love Duhart.

Duhart Generals--SleeveThis is an OT Size 58 gamer with the Captain’s “C” proudly sewn to the left breast. The Frankie Nault Memorial patch is on the left sleeve and on the right breast is the Miller Lite Sponsorship patch. Sewn to the right sleeve is the Cars 108 FM sponsorship patch.

Duhart Generals--Rear Repairs

This is one of only two home jerseys worn by Duhart during the ’03-’04 season and it has been highly customized by the team. The cuffs have thick elastic bands sewn to their insides and the body has been shortened above the hem. The game wear on this jersey consists of numerous stick marks, board paint transfer, board burns, unrepaired burn holes and a bunch of terrific team sewn repair work. There is also inner pilling on this sweater.

DSCF0061DSCF0059Holeeee cow these Killer Bees jerseys are rare. I have literally never seen another one for sale in the hobby. Juliano is now the Assistant Coach at Holy Cross College.

DSCF0094Look up Hidalgo, TX on a globe… I was lucky enough to attend some games there back in the late ‘00s. This arena was located literally a few miles from Mexico, and a
lot of the crowd’s chants were in Spanglish and fueled by Corona in 24-oz. cans.

DSCF0060Light wear as expected on a dark black goalie jersey. Athletic Knit 3XL goalie cut with all patches and logos embroidered. One of the coolest defunct team’s crests you will ever find:
